Cassandra (Cassi) has spent most of her life in Stanislaus County, growing up in Ceres and attending Ceres High School. She earned a BA in history at the University of California, Santa Barbara and a California Teaching Credential at San Francisco State University. Cassi returned to the area after her education and she and her husband raised two sons while living in Modesto. Cassi was a public school teacher, teaching in the Sylvan School District in Modesto, for 32 years.
After her retirement from teaching in 2008 she had the leisure time to pursue her hobbies and passions. While her hobbies include gardening, reading, and traveling, she primarily spends her free time devoted to the rescue of animals in the Oakdale area. She has been a volunteer at the Oakdale Animal Shelter for 5 years, and a member of the ASTRO Board since the group was founded in 2012.
Cassi feels that it is important for the members of a community to give back in any way they can to make their community, and the country, a better place. She has been inspired by working with the other members of the ASTRO Board and is fond of the Ghandi quote, "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated."
