The ASTRO Foundation, founded in 2012, is a 501c3 non-profit corporation whose mission is to save the lives of homeless animals by engaging students in the rescue process.

Our current goal is to build a no-kill shelter for Oakdale/Riverbank area, a community of about 43,000 residents, where students can volunteer, learn about animal welfare, and give back to their community.  Indigo Architects, located in Davis, CA has designed a 4,850 sq. ft. shelter for us that will be built at 772 Wakefield Ct., a one-acre lot in Oakdale, CA, recently acquired by ASTRO Foundation.

Since inception, ASTRO has strived to rescue homeless pets from the City of Oakdale Animal Shelter.  This dramatically undersized shelter was built in the early 1970s to serve a population of 5,000.  It is now stressed and overburdened.   This new, private ASTRO Foundation Adoption Center will enable us to rescue up to 150 dogs/puppies and 500 cats/kittens per year.

We are currently in the process of developing a campaign committee to bring this plan to fruition.  If you would like to be involved or learn more, please call us at (209) 604-2649 or email info@astrofoundation.org.
