Our mission is to save the lives of homeless animals by engaging students in the rescue process including fostering, working adoption events, fundraising, and marketing. Students learn responsibility, leadership, and teamwork while enriching the community.

In order to better address the urgency of the homeless pet problem, ASTRO Foundation has purchased a mobile adoption vehicle. This vehicle will allow ASTRO and its volunteers and students to bring adoptable animals to the larger community in a safe, large, temperature-controlled environment. ASTRO will be able to visit schools, festivals and fairs, and local businesses to promote humane education programs for children and animal welfare while reducing pet homelessness.

Our long-term goal is to build a no-kill shelter that will house homeless pets until they can be placed in suitable homes. This shelter will ideally be run by a combination of staff, students, and volunteers. A modern facility will provide a pleasing place for potential adopters and community members to visit. It will include a conference room for hosting community education events and involving local students in humane education programs. This conference room will be available to rent for birthday parties and other events in order to provide a source of income for shelter operations while further engaging the community and its children in animal welfare.
