Laurette Neumann

ASTRO Foundation Board of Directors

About Laurette Neumann

Laurette Neumann moved to Modesto in 1969 with her family from St. Paul, Minnesota. She attended Downey High School and Adrian’s Beauty College, graduating from both in 1972. She then continued her education at Modesto Junior College, earning an Associate of Arts degree with an emphasis in art.

In 1975, Laurette was hired by Procter & Gamble, where she worked for 25 years until the plant’s closure in 2001. During her time there, she gained extensive experience across various roles, including working on all parts of the manufacturing line, maintenance, and machine repairs. She also spent two years working on special projects that allowed her to develop a deeper understanding of mechanical maintenance. Later in her career, she transitioned into the medical office, assisting with new hire physicals and conducting annual hearing tests for employees. Her expertise extended to employee relations, payroll, and customer service, where she traveled throughout the western United States to help implement a new pallet distribution system. For the remainder of her time at the Modesto plant, she served as the Plant Buyer.

Following her retirement, Laurette became an active member of the community. She volunteered as a docent at both the McHenry Museum and Mansion and even served on the McHenry Museum Board of Directors. Additionally, she spent nearly 20 years as part of a singing group that performed at retirement and comfort care homes, an experience she cherished until the group disbanded due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Laurette and her husband, John, were passionate about rescuing dogs throughout their 25-year marriage. After John’s passing in 2015 due to cancer, she honored his memory by helping to purchase the ASTRO van with the support of his children.

She has been a dedicated supporter of the ASTRO Foundation for many years, having known Jaydeen for over 25 years. From the moment Jaydeen showed her the ASTRO logo with a twinkle in her eye, Laurette knew she had found a mission close to her heart. Since then, she has been a committed contributor to the foundation, attending most of its fundraisers and actively supporting its growth.

Laurette is honored to serve on the board and looks forward to helping the ASTRO Foundation continue to expand its impact in the community.
