WHO WE ARE

Rescuing Animals - Engaging Students - Enhancing Community

ASTRO Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) volunteer-based animal welfare organization dedicated to rescuing homeless dogs and cats from overcrowded shelters in the Oakdale/Riverbank area.

By working with a network of volunteers, foster caregivers, and local veterinarians, ASTRO Foundation is able to rescue hundreds of animals every year. We provide these animals with care and temporary homes until we can place them into their permanent homes.

ASTRO Foundation is currently raising funds to open an Adoption Center in downtown Oakdale at 611 East E St in the Summer of 2021.  Stay tuned for updates!

WORKING ADOPTION EVENTS

ASTRO Foundation actively works with local students, encouraging them to volunteer, foster, and even help manage our social media accounts in order to learn about animal welfare while giving back to their community. We believe students will be critical in the future of animal welfare and plan to expand their volunteer and learning opportunities dramatically as we grow.

FOSTERING

Students help us save lives by fostering homeless pets. They are responsible for caring for the pets and bringing them to adoption events until the pets are placed in permanent homes.  Of course, adults can foster too!  The more fosters we have on our team, the more lives we can save. ASTRO Foundation has been recognized as a Best of 209 Winner for the second consecutive year with a Silver award for Pet Adoption! Reader’s Choice is the local ballot for Oakdale, Escalon and Riverbank.

The Best of the 209 is for the total 209 area code. With over 150,000 individual votes this year, it’s super cool that Astro was recognized by area voters. Thank you!
